True love is not a whimsical feeling, a sexual desire, or a heart on a postcard. True love is so much more…
God gives us the secret to true love in His Word, the Holy Bible.
If more people really knew they could find this secret in the Bible, maybe more of them would actually read it.
The secret to true love is Jesus Christ.
His love is so strong, He died for us, so that we may be saved from God’s just wrath. We messed up, and Jesus came down, into our mess, and made us pure again – through His love, and His blood shed for us.
You may think true love is a chick flick romance, a great first date, or someone who “gets you” (even though you just met), but no relationship has a chance unless both man and woman have a relationship with Jesus first. Only then will they know how to love like Jesus does – fully, sacrificially, and perfectly.
Now, that’s true love!
“And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.”
1 John 3:23 ESV
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.”

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.”

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”

More on this subject to come, but for what it’s worth, if you don’t know the true love of Jesus yet, just ask Him to show up in your life, to help you see Him for who He really is – our Savior and Lord.
Also, if you are in a relationship that doesn’t have Jesus in it – let it go.
